Aube is the ideal terroir to fully develop the potentiel of Pinot noir grapes, planted by the Romans. The growing of this great varietal is profoundly related to the history of the influential Cistercian Abbey of Clairvaux, founded in 1115 by Bernard de Clairvaux.

With its wine-making countries soils and its picturesque villages, its vineyard of exception, you will discover a region unique and full of temperament.

La Côte des Bar it is : 8000 hectares of vineyards, 62 classified villages, 600 house’s champagne, 2500 wine growers.

On this ground, among the authorized vines, the Pinot noir prevails, followed by the Chardonnay and Pinot meunier.

One of the municipalities of the naming has a specificity. Indeed picturesque Les Riceys village, carrying more than 800 hectares of Champagne has three A.O.C. (Protected designation of origin), Champagne, Coteaux Champenois, Rosé des Riceys (quiet wines).

Another particular municipality : Celles-sur-Ource, where is the strongest proportion of récoltants-manipulants by all the Champagne

In fact, contrary to the Marne, there are very few traders in the Aube and champagnes are more “personal”.
